Hot-Air Ballooning

Posted in Uncategorized by kimwelsford on February 15, 2009

My valentine surprise was a ride on a hot-air balloon (my first time).  This involved getting up at 3 a.m. so that we could get to Magaliesburg before sunrise.

Well, it was worth it!!!

I got to second shoot for Dror at Shepstone Gardens at the end of January.  Here are a few killer shots of Tova and Brad that I just had to share with you (I think the photos say it all).

Michelle & Aaron at the Grand Kruger Lodge Part I

Posted in Grand Kruger Lodge, Wedding Venues, Weddings by kimwelsford on February 4, 2009

This past weekend we photographed a wedding at the Grand Kruger Lodge (a round trip of just over a 1 000Km’s).  We left on the Friday morning and it rained pretty much the entire journey (yes, more rain).

However, on Saturday we woke up to beautiful blue skies with slim streaks of wispy white clouds which resulted in a beautiful backdrop for the creative shoot which took place later that afternoon (it didn’t rain but the humidity was at a staggering 87%).

Michelle and Aaron, who flew out from New Zealand to have their wedding in the bush, were very chilled-out and great to work with - real naturals in front of the camera (and I think it shows in the photos).

This shot was taken late that afternoon, just before the sun made its departure…

Michelle and Norman at Houghton Estate Part II

Posted in 10 2nd Houghton Estate, Wedding Venues, Weddings by kimwelsford on January 29, 2009

I frequently get asked if I take black and white wedding photos.  The answer to that question is a definite YES.  I am a bit of a colour addict which is probably why I always post the  colour photos on my blog.  Though, I must say that nothing beats a classic black and white photo (I too love black and white for those of you who are wondering about that).

So today I am going to break away from the colour photos and instead post some killer black and white shots of Michelle getting ready.

Michelle and Norman at Houghton Estate Part I

Posted in 10 2nd Houghton Estate, Wedding Venues, Weddings by kimwelsford on January 26, 2009

I am very proud of myself, it has only been a few days and here I am blogging again! I am getting the hang of it which is one of the many I can tick of my “to do” list this week! I have been working hard this past week to get Michelle and Norman’s photos on my blog, to be honest; I worked around the clock. I don’t mind, the photos came out STUNNING.

Our day started out with my Garmin sending my assistant and I around in circles, we thought we will never get there in time. I decided to follow my instincts, get back on the highway and in no time arrived at 10 2nd Houghton Estate.  (Just for interest sake, Houghton Estate is used as the house of the Edward’s Family in Egoli).

The garden catered for and really complemented the couple’s idea of an intimate, romantic and VERY Stylish wedding.

Although we had rain earlier on in the day, the lighting and ambiance were fabulous which just added an extra to the already very beautiful Michelle, thus creating the romantic and dramatic scene for the very much in love couple. The Rolls Royce was an added bonus. After the rain, the trees just looked so much greener and the clouds created such an amazing natural soft box that we had to take the Rolls Royce and make use of the perfect light. Michelle and Norman made my job so much easier, they were naturals when photographed. It is always so much easier if a bride knows what she wants. I would like to thank you for making my, already fantastic job, so much more fun

After the wedding my assistant and I had a glass of the most divine red wine (I think it was a Pinotage) going over the day’s happenings and the experience we had working together. Which we both can say was very pleasant!

I hope you enjoy the photos and I wish you a very happy married life together!

Juli and Darren at the Moon and Sixpence Part II

Posted in The Moon and Sixpence, Wedding Venues, Weddings by kimwelsford on January 15, 2009

Yes, it has been ages since last I posted a blog. I have done quite a few weddings lately and have some beautiful wedding photos that I want to add to my blog.

I have just completed editing the wedding photos from Juli and Darren’s wedding that took place last year December at  The Moon and Sixpence - (wedding venue in Muldersdrift).

It was a beautiful wedding and we got some fantastic photos.  It was a beautiful, over cast day.  The sun kept peeping from behind the clouds which gave us some fantastic dramatic lighting.

I will post some more images tomorrow - promise.

Juli and Darren at The Moon and Sixpence Part I

Posted in Weddings by kimwelsford on December 9, 2008

Here are a few photos from Juli and Darren’s wedding that took place at The Moon and Sixpence on Friday. I was going through the wedding photos last night and thought I better post a few images from their wedding before the week is over (which happens so quickly). I got stunning wedding photos from the day but I haven’t posted any ceremony shots for a while so here are a few.

Juli and Darren – you guys looked gorgeous and I will post more images soon. Enjoy your honeymoon!
